The Globalization Of Entertainment - The Global Artist Career - Part 2

You'd best believe that the air up there is very rarefied indeed. In spite of hearing all your life the estimation of so many well known performers careers identified as "international stardom", somewhat of a recapitulation is in order. Who actually determines the parameters identifying the circumstances or achievements that must be met to assign such grand and lofty accolades to any one individuals accomplishments? Who is that assigned "king (or queen) who decree's that a particular artists has indeed reached a place that bestows upon them the ultimate recognition, undying love and devotion of countless human beings throughout the world? Who is it that measures, in such precise detail the level of admiration, commercial sales, tragic acts of devotion or brilliant acts of unselfishness enacted in their name that would seem to me to be a minimal way to really acquire some true sense of the value of someone destined to be showered with this kind notice?

Who Indeed? I submit to you there is no such person, that the bluster and huff attributed to all this generally misstatement of facts has simply been for the most part, a not to cleverly disguised PR ploy that has allowed silver tounged hucksters to play themselves into position to extract unimaginable bounties of booty from the gullible, the naive and the "agendized" media executive with to much time and money on his hands. That is until now. Remember, we're talking about performing artists here not Mother Theresa. We often find so many of these types of people to be selfish, when ego is involved selfishly unkind and often removed from contact with the more common folk who walk the earth among them. Of course there are a few exceptions, but for the most part the stereotype just described holds true more often than not. What anyone does with the resources they acquire is their business and their business alone. Just don't be looking for the world to love you all over when the only opportunity you take to spread love, ease suffering is when cameras are rolling and large crowds are around to sing your praise.

Many times in casual conversation with whom I assume to be average consumers I am often excoriated when I endeavor to explain to them that because they hear about an artist here in America all over the media they should not assume that to means that an equivalent amount of coverage is extended to that same performer in countries all around the world. Hell some performers are not even widely covered in other states let alone the 250 + countries and thousands of cities all around the world. Some get downright indignant with me about my conclusions as if I haven't the slightest clue of what I'm talking about. Not withstanding the fact that i have had the occasion to visit, live and work in different countries or that I now work with talent from different countries from all around the world, they just really have no clue at all that many nations have their own "superstars" they admire. Of course there are probably a few exceptions but this will be nothing compared to what is about to happen if the very near future.

According to Professor Deborah Glik /UCLA - Community Health Sciences at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) just about 112 years ago the earth's population was about 2 billion people. That has increased to more than twice that number in this short span to more than over 6 billion people (closer to 7 billion). Because communications globally have improved so unimaginably during this period the ability to truly shape the career of a truly international global superstar is well withing our reach unequivocally, unquestionably. The life and death of perhaps one of the very rare, definitively global, international talents ever - Michael Jackson signaled two things, the end of a dynamically changing dimension of life, the beginning of the new uncharted waters of a future no one cares to tell us how we landed in.

Globalization Of Entertainment Manifesto

The Mission - "The Globalization of Entertainment"

However we found that even the most prolific and savvy "guru's" of the good ship worldwide entertainment were to preoccupied burying their heads in the sand hoping that someone would be "lucky enough" to figure out some graceful way out of this awful predicament that music (and now film and television are finding themselves in): the blatant disregard for wanting to pay a cent for the entertainment content they so eagerly enjoy.

As a matter of fact it's gotten so that consumers now almost have the attitude of - "entertainment content - we can take it or leave it". This is very much in evidence by the poor financial showing that have been constantly diminishing in the global music industry. Much blame has been laid at the feet of such technological innovations as Napster or "Peer to Peer" file sharing. However, blame is extended further, properly assigned in portions to a number of who miserably failed in their responsibilities to protect and serve those they were installed, elected, assigned or democratically chosen to administer. Additionally, this is meant to include key establishments, organizations, industries, unions, fraternities, societies and like intentioned entities that have been of major importance to the financial stability of the economies of most nations in the world.

The choice to create a two-part film project to commemorate the life and legacy of this legendary film icon has a dual purpose. First, Marilyn Monroe is one of the most enduring and recognizable symbols that people all over the world associate most closely with "Hollywood". Though Elvis, Jimmy Dean and countless others can lay claim to some portion of that myth and lore it is Marilyn's image that is the most sought after by visitors here from anywhere on earth. We want to continue to perpetuate this love affair between her essence and image and the world public.

Second, who would be a more appropriate representation of the possibilities today of taking a young ingenue or male counterpart to heights unimagined just a few short years ago, even impractical financially during this period as well. Regardless what anyone say's what modern Superstar has truly reached this zenith in their career, in so many countries save and this is just a perhaps, Michael Jackson? The jury is still out on Michael after all he has just been gone and sadly missed by legions worldwide for barely one year.

The manifesto continues next segment with - "Target and Engagement."

What to Expect From the Capital of Adult Entertainment in the UK

For those seeking a sexy afternoon or evening out on the town, sophisticated adult entertainment in London cannot be beat. London has become the adult entertainment capital of the United Kingdom. It offers a broad selection of stylish adult amusement for the discriminating client wishing to steer clear of the typical seedy low class adult distractions that has been the norm for so long.

Tasteful and fun erotica is available year round punctuated by annual events that have become world renowned. Take for instance the Volupte burlesque located in London's financial district and considered one of the better adult clubs in London. Reminiscent of the cabarets of another era such as the famous Moulin Rouge in Paris, the vintage-themed decor serves as a backdrop for such activities as afternoon tea with champagne, sword dancing and burlesque. The visual treats are complimented by dining delights with a European flair such as salmon steaks marinated in vodka pre-empted by retro cocktails from the upstairs bar.

London is also renowned for Europe's biggest fetish club where the visitor's dress code corresponds to the theme of the club. This is some of the best adult entertainment in London. For those interested in a cornucopia of S&M activities and garb and willing to get into the spirit of this attraction, then the Torture Club provides a safe environment to explore. Prior to admittance, prospective visitors are encouraged to read up on the proper etiquette to follow. It is important to maintain an atmosphere of respect.

An annual happening that many look forward to attending is the Sexpo Erotica featuring three days of events such as burlesque classes, shopping, etc. This is where the focus is on displaying and shopping for erotica paraphernalia. This is a safe environment for everyone but especially for women on a ladies night out looking to have some adult fun in the workshops while learning first-hand about interesting products available for purchase.

For those who enjoy visiting art galleries London also offers art exhibitions featuring adult entertainment themes such as candid photo shots of burlesque scenes, Tracey Emin's adults-only retrospective and other respected authors of the visual arts. Keeping up with the latest exhibitions is as easy as entering a search engine query.

The choice of adult entertainment clubs in London is broad. There are dozens to be investigated online. Maintaining an attitude of respect helps to maintain the professional level of the adult entertainment offered. Many establishments have done their utmost to offer this to their clientele and it is expected this respectful attitude to be reciprocated. Perhaps this is why London is considered to be number one in this industry. It is certainly worth exploring.

Types Of Entertainment For Your Event - Article Series, Acrobat

In this series of quick articles we will explore all the different types of entertainment there is to offer for your events, meetings, trade shows, private functions and more. Along with suggestions as to where and when to use these entertainers to produce their maximum impact and receive the best return on investment possible.

This weeks feature is: The Acrobat!

Acrobat can mean so many things. People think of break dancers, gymnasts, and anyone who can do a front roll. And all of them are right but you must think about how to effectively use the Acrobat in your event or function to achieve the most return on investment. Do you want them to be part of a message on team building? How about a demonstration on focus or motivation?

One of the hottest forms of Acrobat available today is the Parkour Athlete. Parkour is a relatively new term for something we have all been doing since we were kids, jumping and rolling and diving over things. Although these things have evolved into buildings and jungle gyms and city parks and streets. And the kids are amazing performers with unlimited amounts of courage and confidence.

The best thing about the Parkour Acrobat is the freestyle nature of their performance. They can literally create a course out of anything you see around you. Chairs, desks, tables and steps all become a stage for Parkour Acrobats. The ability to think creatively outside the box makes them unique. Every style is different and every move is approached with a freedom of not knowing what comes next.

Here are a few great ways to use Acrobats:

Making an impact for a product launch.
Opening ceremonies for a meeting.
Trade show booth presentations.
Atmosphere entertainment for galas and awards nights.
Some examples of Acrobats would be:
Adagio Acts - Two people performing a slow hand balancing routine
Cheerleaders - Pyramids and tumbling
Chinese Dragon - Traditional dance with a chinese dragon costume using multiple performers
Wow factor:

With Acrobats you get a first hand look at what great team building skills consist of. They also carry a certain energy that fills the room. People love to see other humans doing the impossible.

So as you can see using Acrobats are a great way to create an event that will provide the attendees with memories that will last a lifetime. They are versatile, most do not need a ton of room. They deliver tremendous ROI!

Walkabout Entertainment With Juggling and Circus Skills Props at Carnivals, Parades and Festivals

What is Walkabout Entertainment?

This is something similar to "the Wandering Minstrel" you may have seen at various fetes and carnivals. It is suitable for any type of event (such as Store Openings, Carnivals/Festivals, Parades, Fun Days, Shopping Centres, Pubs/Clubs) where you want to create a buzz or an enhanced "good time" atmosphere without necessarily putting the performer up on a stage at a designated time for everyone to stop what they are doing and watch! They are also particularly useful in keeping crowds of "about to pay" customers in long queues waiting to see Santa or for a particular theme park ride. The organisers of events don't want these people getting bored and harassed by their children and deciding to leave the queue, so you can come to the rescue and keep everyone entertained and happy!

Walkabout Entertainers simply wander amongst the visitors to your event. They stop and entertain small crowds and individuals at random. There are Glow versions of most Circus Skills props such as balls, clubs, poi, devilstick & diabolo. This means that you can entertain whether it is day or night! Glow Juggling Walkabout is ideal for bonfire night and Halloween themed events, as well as the switching on of Christmas lights.

How Do I Carry My Props?

You basically have only a few choices:

Just carry one or two props with you for the whole event, or return occasionally to a secured area to switch over props.
A suitcase on wheels. This will allow you to pack in lots of equipment but the downside is that you can't really wheel it along the ground while doing tricks, so you have to stop and start on a regular basis wherever you go.
The best solution I have found is to wear a Jugglers Rucksack. There are some excellent ones available which have pockets and compartments in all the right places to help you store all different sorts of circus skills props securely and access them easily.

What props could I use?

If you have developed any short and snappy routines using props that fit nicely into your Jugglers rucksack, then carry these props with you for anytime you want to stop and do a quick performance. Remember that the idea isn't to try to gather a huge crowd, so if you attract one, then it may be time to move on and entertain people elsewhere! Your client has hired you to keep people happy, but not to stop them from spending their money on all the attractions they have put on! If you only perform to tiny audiences everywhere, then you can use the same routines again and again as your new audience won't have seen it yet!

Costume:

An increasing amount of clients are asking performers not to look anything like clowns because kids are scared of them, so this will save you having to put on make-up and dress very brightly! I usually opt for a smart casual look. Brightly coloured trousers, with a single colour t-shirt, and a waistcoat. It's enough to make you stand out from the crowd, identify yourself as a performer, but still be approachable by a wide cross-section of people who are not going to be too embarrassed to stand next to you! If you end up spending your time as a walkabout entertainer dealing with heckles about what you are wearing, then it is time to consider finding a more suitable outfit!

Some Further Advice:

Walkabout entertainment involves social interaction. It is about helping to enhance the event for every person you meet. It is OK to get into conversations with people and answering their questions about the world of entertainment (and anything else they wish to discuss) and not just be constantly juggling.
This is a great chance to try out new short routines and tricks on people. If these routines go wrong, you may surprise yourself with coming up with an excellent ad-lib that you can write down later!
In order to look approachable, it may be helpful to smile at people!
Don't try to do the most technical tricks that scream "look at me, I am brilliant!"
Don't focus on your own skills when you are wandering around the event, be on the look out for people who might be interested in seeing a few tricks or having a try at spinning a plate or learning to juggle. You will soon develop a useful radar for such people and also for knowing which people to avoid completely!
Don't be worried about dropping or making mistakes. Develop the sort of character/personality that lets people see that you are enjoying being at this event and entertaining them, but that mistakes sometimes happen! Recover by doing an even more impressive trick.
